Here is a list of pre-care instructions to follow no more than 24 hours before your appointment. Your tanning results aren’t solely based on the technician, but by also following all the pre-care and aftercare for your spray tan.

• Shower the day before your appointment or a couple hours beforehand. Showering right before can cause the spray not to stick properly.

• Exfoliate your entire body thoroughly during your shower. It’s recommended to use a wash cloth, or exfoliating mitt. If you have any previous self tanner or spray tan left on your skin, make sure it is fully exfoliated off. Shave everywhere you usually would.

• Do not use any moisturizing body wash before your spray (ex: Dove, Olay).

• Do not moisturize or lotion your entire body. Only put a dime size on your knees, elbows, face, hands, and feet. Don’t apply any oils, or perfume the day of your appointment.

• Bring an old swimsuit or undergarments to tan in if preferred. We also have disposable thongs, and clients may tan topless or nude, if preferred. Men are required to wear and supply their own undergarments.

• Wear very loose dark fitting clothes. Long, loose pants and long sleeve shirt are best to avoid skin to skin contact, and transfer from the spray tan.

Aftercare you will want to follow to ensure you get a beautiful even spray tan.

• Thoroughly wash your hands THREE HOURS after your spray tan with soap. Be very careful to avoid getting wet anywhere else, including your wrists. PAT YOUR HANDS DRY!

• Don’t get wet and avoiding sweating before your first shower.

• Don’t apply anything on top of your fresh tan until you take your first shower (ex: makeup, deodorant, perfume, lotion).

• Avoid skin to skin contact with yourself and others for long periods of time. For example, while you’re letting your tan develop the best way to put it is you want to be like a “starfish.” Not allowing your arms and legs to touch your body or each other as much as possible. This is SUPER important to avoid any darker areas from developing as the spray can transfer. Common areas of this happening is in-between your thighs, arms touching your sides, and your chin from looking down at our phones.

• Don’t touch your fresh tan! It’ll transfer onto your hands leaving your palms discolored giving it an unnatural appearance.

• Once it is time for you to wash off your spray- take a lukewarm shower and rinse off your entire body. You will see a bunch of bronzer come off of your body, continue rinsing until you see completely clear water. BRIDES ESPECIALLY- make sure to rinse your armpits thoroughly to avoid transfer from the tan since that is where people sweat the most. You will only rinse your body, don’t use any body wash for your first shower.

• Pat; don’t rub yourself dry after every shower.

• Moisturize twice a day if possible. The more you moisturize the longer the tan will last.

• Try to use natural or sulfate free body wash, and lotion on your body to extend the life of your tan. (Drug store recommendations: Method body washes, and Vaseline Coco Radiant moisturizer)
